Part of my process for making dances is walking long and far with my grandmother’s polaroid camera. i often places the developing polaroid in the snow, under a rock, in a tree branch, retrieving it on my next walk. These images are responsive to place, made with decay and the passage of time. Each image is an archive of a walk: along the Milwaukee River Greenway in Wisconsin, in deep snow/snowshoeing to dance rehearsals at MacDowell Residency in New Hampshire, walking mountain passes at Ucross Residency in Wyoming. At each residency, a dance was made alongside the polaroids.
