WALKING: TALEGGIO VALLEY

a walk + performance in the taleggio valley, italy

a month long immersion into the nature of place, the identity and memory of the taleggio valley situated in the heart of the orobie alps. for 30 days, i walk the mountains of northern italy: through hail storms, in fog so thick i lose track of time. i trace the river ena, follow horses through the valley, and traverse logging sites. daily, i physically recall + catalogue my wanderings, through movement, in the village sottochiesa's church classroom.

my time in the valley culminates with a community wide walk + site performance. the walk begins at the edge of the forest. up the mountain we climb, into a family's logging site, back down the mountain, into the old town square. folks look on from their open windows, church bells ring noon. down a winding alley we go, final moments-  a downpour.

project made possible through the support of: nature, art & habitat residency, ilaria mazzoleni, the residents of sottochiesa, + the generosity of friends/family/supporters.
